Discover Sazzy B - Kenosha Restaurant

The first time I walked into Sazzy B - Kenosha Restaurant, I wasn’t expecting much more than a quick bite. It was a rainy Tuesday, the kind of afternoon when even the Food Network suggests comfort food. But tucked along 5623 6th Ave, Kenosha, WI 53140, United States, this place felt like a cozy diner-meets-bistro hybrid, and it instantly changed my mood.

I’ve spent over a decade working in hospitality consulting, helping family-owned diners tighten their menus and improve customer flow. From that perspective, Sazzy B stands out for its thoughtful layout and service rhythm. Servers greet you within 60 seconds, which aligns with research from Cornell University’s School of Hotel Administration showing that early guest acknowledgment increases overall satisfaction by nearly 20 percent. It’s a small detail, yet it sets the tone for the whole experience.

Let’s talk menu, because that’s where things get fun. Their breakfast skillet is built the old-school way: crisp potatoes, real Wisconsin cheese curds, fluffy scrambled eggs, and your choice of bacon or sausage. I asked the cook once how they keep the potatoes from going soggy, and he explained that they parboil them early morning, then finish them on a flat-top at high heat just before service. That simple process is why they stay golden instead of greasy. For lunch, the smash burgers are the quiet stars of the reviews. They use a two-ounce patty pressed directly onto a cast iron surface, which creates that caramelized crust food scientists from the USDA say is responsible for most of the flavor compounds in grilled meats.

Local customers often rave about their house-made soups, and I’m one of them. During flu season last winter, I basically lived on their chicken noodle. According to the CDC, warm broths can ease congestion and help with hydration, and while I can’t say it cured me, it definitely made recovery less miserable. Real carrots, thick-cut celery, and tender chicken chunks prove they aren’t cutting corners.

I’ve compared dozens of Kenosha locations for client projects, and very few manage consistent quality across different dayparts. Breakfast crowds are tough. So are lunch rushes. Yet Sazzy B manages both. The reason, from what I observed, is their prep system. Ingredients are portioned during slower hours, so line cooks aren’t scrambling when the dining room fills. The National Restaurant Association often points out that strong mise en place practices reduce ticket times and waste, and this spot is a living example of that advice.

The vibe stays relaxed without feeling sloppy. There’s always a blend of retirees sipping coffee, high school kids grabbing milkshakes, and families flipping through the kids menu. That diversity doesn’t happen by accident. Their pricing stays approachable, and the portions never leave you checking for a drive-thru on the way home.

When friends ask me where to eat in town, I don’t just send them the address. I tell them to read the reviews first, then go see if the hype holds up. So far, nobody has come back disappointed. Still, I’ll admit I don’t know much about their late-night scene because I’m usually in bed by ten. If they ever extend hours, I’d be curious how the atmosphere shifts.

All I know is that every time I slide into a booth, whether I’m ordering pancakes or a stacked grilled cheese, the place feels familiar in the best way-like a restaurant that understands its neighborhood and cooks with intention rather than shortcuts.

  • This was a mixed experience. We did Saturday night drinks and they were the best drinks between Chicago and Milwaukee so we decided to come back for brunch. They don't have any savory options for someone who only eats chicken/turkey, but can't really dock them for that. It'd be nice if they had a bigger variety of non-pork or egg dishes, but this isn't Milwaukee so it's understandable. Service was a bit slow even though the restaurant was slow, but that happens. Can't rush brunch. The drinks were great. We never got the beignets we ordered to share as an appetizer. Cocktails: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ All their drinks are amazing and creative Brunch burger: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ This was really good. The flavors of the burger and bacon overpowered the aoili so I didn't really taste that, but fortunately the burger itself was good enough that it was fine. I'd go heavier on the aoili if you want people to taste it Hashbrowns: ⭐⭐ These were burnt and dry. No real flavor to them. Ceasar salad: ⭐⭐⭐ Dressing was good. A little mayonnaisey but it goes away quickly. Not too garlicky. The fried croutons are an interesting choice. I'm not sure what frying them brings to the table that baking doesn't, but it just made them really hard. My wife had to bury them under the lettuce for 5 minutes to soften so she could even spear one with a fork. The frying seems like a buzzword gimmick because it doesn't add any beneficial flavors

  • I can't believe it took me this long to try Sazzy B. Absolutely AMAZING!! My wife and I tried this place for the first time and we were blown away! Tom N was our server, he was very kind and professional 10/10 service. My wife ordered the 3 Cheese Truffle Cavatappi with an egg on top and she loved every bite of it. I ordered the Smash Burger and I am not exaggerating when I say, it was one of the best burgers I have ever had. Cooked to perfection, with a crispy, caramelized exterior, yet the interior was still pink and packed with juicy flavor. The gruyere crisp is definitely a nice touch as well. Normally I don't mention sides, but the Truffle waffle fries were perfectly crispy and delicious! I'm telling you, this food is so good, there are zero chances of it becoming leftovers, 10/10 HIGHLY recommend.

  • Another good find. Our first experience here was decent. The appetizer was delicious. The steak and cheese dish. We enjoyed the Tuna and the asparagus pasta. The pasta needed a little more flavor and some salt. The tuna was great. The prices are in the higher end so be ready to drop some coin. They have jazz and music nights which we missed. Drinks were good and dessert. Overall we had a good time with the friendly staff and would be there again on Thursday’s for half price Sazeracs.

  • Updated Review - 2/1/25: Great service, fun atmosphere... and delicious food. I had the Buffalo Smash Burger. It was incredible! I also had the Pesto Caesar Salad. It was great. My wife had the Scallops with Risotto. She said it was perfect. My daughter had the Shrimp Flautas... And her boyfriend had the Buffalo Smash Burger. We all loved the food. Then we had dessert. I had the Carrot Cake, my wife had the Chocolate Strawberry Mousse, my daughter had the Flourless Chocolate cake and her boyfriend had the Tiramisu. We all decided two thumbs up for everything! We would all recommend Sazzy B's. We can't wait to go back! ------ Original Review: One word. WOW! We hadn’t been to Sazzy B in a few years. It turns out that was a huge mistake. We need to go more often! The food and service were incredible. Our waiter was super friendly and knowledgeable about everything on the menu. He was a huge help picking out food and drinks. The food was delicious! We all liked everything we ordered. I loved my Moroccan Salmon and my wife loved her Italian Sausage Penne Pasta (I got to eat her leftovers for lunch the next day). We went with some friends and decided we need to go back to Sazzy B again soon. I highly recommend you go too!

  • The Steak and crispy brussels were my favorite. They were crispy, sweet, and savory. The portion was perfect for 2 people. The hummus board was very good. I enjoyed the hummus and it too had a sweetness without being cloyingly sweet. I would have preferred kalamata to green olives. The portion was perfect for 2. The beehive salad was also very good. I preferred to add some hummus from the board instead of the dressing though.

  • Went for dinner on a whim, this was honestly such an amazing surprise in how amazing it was. I have never had such tender melt in my mouth steak or such an amazing humus before. • My wife and I wanted a drink and talk. She had a blueberry martini and I had a tom Collins. Great drinks friendly staff. We came at shift change and couldn't pay immediately. We were in no hurry. Enjoyed our drink for 45 minutes or more. When we were going to leave i was surprised they didn't ask me to pay as I was sitting outside. When we payed he just smiled and said he had faith in the community and knew we would be responsible. Felt good in these times.
